Kedemai Cooperative is a group of 225 farmer members established in 2018. The coop built their own washing station and purchased the equipment needed and within two years was able to repay their loans fully.  Farmers are paid cash upon delivery of cherry, plus an end of season bonus and member dividend based on coop-wide profits.

Ethiopia has a special relationship with coffee - it’s the birthplace of the coffee tree and the seventh largest coffee producing country in the world.  Coffee makes up about 40% of Ethiopia’s export market and nearly 15% of the population is employed by the coffee industry.
